Kohll's Pharmacy Offers Nationwide ScripTalk Service
Normal, IL - Kohll's Pharmacy and Homecare, a chain of seven stores in Omaha, NE, is launching a new program aimed at giving blind and visually impaired people the ability to have their prescriptions talk to them. On September 2nd, Kohll's will begin providing special electronic prescription labels on their prescriptions for visually impaired customers. The "smart label" stores all the information about the patient's prescription in a tiny embedded microchip. When the prescription is presented to a handheld "ScripTalk" reader, all the contents of the label are spoken.
Across the nation, the Veterans Administration is currently adopting the ScripTalk system, developed by an Illinois company called En-Vision America. "We're very excited about being one of the first to introduce the ScripTalk system outside the VA," says David Kohll. "We are always looking for ways to add value to our customers' lives. ScripTalk uses amazing technology to overcome an age-old problem with medications."
A user that signs up for the system will need to purchase a ScripTalk reader from the pharmacy. In addition, a small fee is charged for each prescription provided with an electronic label.
